Clun, Shropshire

The castle is reached by crossing the bridge and passing through a gate on the left just after it. The site is notable not so much for the ruins as for the surrounding earthworks, which have been turned into a pleasant park.

There are no outstanding buildings in the streets of the town, where a charming muddle of houses and shops on a small scale produces a very intimate atmosphere. However the Holy Trinity Hospital an attractive block of almshouses of 1618 with their own chapel should not be missed.
