Laxfield, Suffolk

The ancient Guildhall dates from 1461 and was first called the Cherchehous. Its religious connections aroused the disapproval of Henry VIII and it was given into the keeping of the lord of the manor. At one time it was used as a parish workhouse but it now houses the Laxfield and District Museum giving a fine insight into bygone ages with geology and natural history exhibits, farm and domestic tools, a Victorian kitchen, a village shop and a costume room. The ancient Guildhall dates from

Laxfield's impressive war memorial.

One of the many lovely cottages in the village. Laxfield has over forty thatched and timbered buildings listed as being of historic and architectural interest.
