Sometimes people are found in all sort's of places. I have one relative who was found in the Lancashire County Lynatic Asylum in 1881 but by the time the next Census rolled around she was married with 4 children. When the 1901 Census rolled around she was a widow with 7 children to look after.

Now there are many reason's why she was in a Lynatic Asylum from something like a nervious breakdown, epilepsy or even an unmarried mother going to give birth. I have not been able to find the record that would let me know what the reason was in the case of Emily Bowyer nee Best.
